Drive through the landscapes of the Atlas Mountains, explore the famous Kasbah Ait-Benhaddou, and experience the Berber lifestyle on a 2-day tour from Marrakesh. Spend the night in a private tent in a Berber camp, and enjoy a camel ride through the desert.
We depart from Marrakech at 7:30 Am, in a minibus. Traveling over the Atlas mountains we stop at the Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou for a tour of the complex, where lunch can be taken in the restaurants(10 up to 12 euros per meal). After our break, we travel into Ouarzazate (The gateway to the desert), our afternoon journey takes us to the Dades Valley, visiting a beautiful Oasis, and onto the Desert town of Zagora with many opportunities for exploration and visits. For our final leg of today’s journey, we meet our Camels to take us to our Berber Zagora desert camp. Our stay at the Zagora Desert camp includes an Evening meal, accommodation in traditional Berber tents and breakfast the following morning.
The next day, we take our camels for the return journey back to Zagora. We then enjoy our journey back through The Draa Valley to Ouarzazate, over the Atlas mountains, and returning to Marrakech around 19:00hrs or 20:00 hrs.
The duration of the drive through the Atlas Mountains varies depending on the specific itinerary and any stops or detours along the way. Typically, it takes several hours to traverse the mountainous terrain, with opportunities to admire the stunning landscapes and take in panoramic views.
Kasbah Ait-Benhaddou is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located along the former caravan route between the Sahara Desert and Marrakesh. It is renowned for its well-preserved mud-brick architecture, intricate maze-like streets, and historical significance as a filming location for various movies and television shows, including “Game of Thrones.”
The stay in the Berber camp offers a unique opportunity to experience traditional Berber hospitality and lifestyle. Accommodations typically consist of private tents equipped with basic amenities, such as bedding and lighting. Guests may enjoy traditional Berber meals, music performances, stargazing, and the tranquil ambiance of the desert surroundings.
